through conventional classroom settings or via video teletraining networks
(TNET).
The SGITC is a 40-hour training program conducted using the concept of
learning by doing. The course is designed to teach military instructors
how to facilitate a small group to achieve a training objective. The course
presents definitions, terminology, and instructional methods used in small

Video Teletraining Instructor
Training Course (VTTITC)
This five day course
is designed to support The Army School System (TASS) total force training
mission. The VTTITC teaches platform instructors how to prepare and present
instruction over the video teletraining (VTT) medium. The course is designed
for experienced platform instructors who are currently, or anticipate,
presenting instruction over VTT. It provides a certification process to
ensure that instructors receive standardized training and are evaluated
before they present instruction over VTT. The course is a 40-hour training
program divided into 20 hours of instruction-led teaching and practical
exercises and 20 hours of hand-on practice and lesson design and development.
The end-of-course exercise requires students to present a class over the
VTT and they are evaluated according to an evaluation checklist. The VTTITC
focuses on developing specific instructor competencies. The course teaches
proficiency in operating main and auxiliary cameras and multimedia equipment;
provides skill and knowledge to design effective VTT instruction for delivery
over TNET; identifies how VTT instructor interfaces with site coordinator;
and provides skills to deliver quality instruction using VTT.
The Video Teletraining Instructor Training Course is offered for the Army
National Guard (ARNG) and Army Reserve (AR) on designated weekends as
VTTITC (ARNG/AR) on the training schedule. The VTTITC (ARNG/AR) requires
two weekends to complete the course.
Course prerequisites: Certified as an instructor and qualified in the
subject to be taught via video teletraining.

Systems Approach to Training Basic Course (SATBC)
The SATBC is a 40-hour
course designed for delivery over video teletraining or in a traditional
classroom.
The U.S. Army's requirement for mission-focused, task-based training is
embodied in the philosophy of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT). SAT
is a disciplined, logical approach to making collective, individual, and
self-development training decisions for the Total Army.
The SATBC target population includes Active and Reserve Component noncommissioned,
warrant, and commissioned officers and DoD civilians assigned for the first
time to develop training or training products using the SAT. This includes
persons assigned to positions coded as training developers as well as TASS
instructors who must develop training.
The goals of the SATBC are to--
1. Familiarize new training developers with the five-phased
SAT process because knowing about and using the SAT process serve as the
basis for standardized Army training.
2. Train new training developers in how to use the SAT Desk Reference
as a job aid when performing tasks associated with the SAT process.
Course goals are accomplished with conferences followed by student-centered
individual and group practical exercises that require students to use the
SAT Desk Reference . These practical exercises give students the
opportunity to practice tasks or parts of tasks and receive immediate feedback
and reinforcement from instructors and course participants.
The course content focuses on student performance of selected analysis,
design, and development tasks related to individual training development
outputs or products required by TRADOC Regulation 350-70, Training Development
Management, Processes, and Products .
Course prerequisites: None.
The course manager for the SATBC is the Staff and Faculty Training Support
Team, Individual Training Support Directorate, U.S. Army Training Support
Center, Fort Eustis , VA 23604-5166. For VTTITC information call: Site Coordinator,

Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC)
The Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC), previously called
Battle-Focused Instructor Training Course and Instructor Training Course, is a comprehensive core course that
trains Active and Reserve Component instructors to deliver battle-focused training in The Army School System (TASS).
The ABIC is designed for delivery in the traditional classroom setting or via distance learning. The total
length of the course is 80 hours.
The ABIC consists of planning, preparing, and presenting Army training. The basic method for Army instructors
is previewing and presenting the task, practicing the task, and performing the task to standard during evaluation.
This method is enhanced during this course by applying a variety of presentation and practice methods and
training techniques. The course also addresses how instructors motivate soldiers and solve soldier performance
problems using positive reinforcement, on-the-spot corrections, and soldiers counseling.
The ABIC stresses standardization in format and content. The course provides the instructor with standardized
references and lesson plans for presenting instruction, a Training Support Package with visuals for multi-media use,
and practical exercise and presentation evaluation forms.
Course prerequisites: Assignment or pending assignment as an instructor. Military must meet height and weight
standards IAW AR 600-9. Military must pass most recent APFT.
