Blackboard (Bb) Basics
1. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Bb Basics is a one-day course designed to teach the fundamentals of using Bb as a student and/or instructor.
Bb Basics serves as a hands-on introduction to Blackboard functions and features, providing guided practice
with key Blackboard components. Bb Basics is broken into 6 course modules. Each module includes hands-on
practice exercises that reinforce key concepts and use of system components. The course is one day in
length, conducted on a face-to-face basis with students using Blackboard in a CRXXI-type setting.
Specific topics include: System overview and navigation tools, control panel features and functions, adding
content to Bb, course management tools, communication tools and functions, and assessment features and
functions.
2. TARGET POPULATION:
The course is designed to enable independent use of the Blackboard content management system as a beginning
instructor/developer.
3. COURSE PREREQUISITES:
“Blackboard Familiarization Training” (self-paced) recommended.
4. WAIVERS:
None
5. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
Bb Basics consists of 6 content modules and practical exercises. In order to successfully
complete the course, the student must achieve an instructor “GO” on all content modules and exercises.
Students who successfully complete the course are awarded a certificate of completion.
